Therapeutic Massage

Our massage therapists specialize in pain and stress reduction using the following techniques:

  • Therapeutic Swedish Massage - the most common form of massage, it is both relaxing and invigorating. Swedish Massage is a smooth, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, improves circulation and range of movement, and relieves muscular tension.
  • Myofascial Therapy - This modality of massage addresses the restrictions of the muscle fascia of the body. The fascia is a connective tissue network that is found throughout the body. It surrounds all the muscle groups, the individual muscles, the muscle fibers and each muscle cell. Since the fascia is a network, even very superficial work is beneficial on the deepest of levels. The fascia can become restricted, hindering movement and relaxation of the muscles. This technique identifies and releases restrictions in the fascia. It can be used in combination with other massage modalities or it can be a session in and of itself. Myofascial Release is a very slow, non-invasive technique that also produces a profound level of relaxation.
  • Neuromuscular Therapy - This modality of massage is recommended for clients who have areas of tension, soreness or pain and like a deep, specific massage. Neuromuscular Therapy is a more specific massage than Swedish massage as it focuses on the attachment points and muscle bellies of the various muscles by using cross fiber friction techniques and trigger point therapy to interrupt the neurological pain/spasm/pain cycle. Neuromuscular therapy can be included in a full body massage, blending deep Swedish techniques with the cross fiber and trigger point therapy where needed or just the problem areas can be targeted.
  • Stone Massage - This therapy is becoming widely known for its deeply relaxing benefits. It employs a technique that uses smooth, heated basalt stones which are placed on specific acupressure points on the body to melt away knots, tension and stress. It can be applied as a relaxation technique using hot essential oils. The hot stone experience relieves pain, promotes harmony, balance and peace. The heat component makes it good for arthritic patients as well as warming the muscles for a deep tissue massage. Also relieves pressure from PMS through the relaxing heat.
  • Reflexology - Using thumb and finger pressure on the reflex points of the feet (which correspond to all areas of the body) to assist in achieving balance within the body.

Whether you come for specific treatment of a muscular problem, stress reduction, relaxation or general wellness, you will receive the finest care available in our profession!

It is important to drink a lot of water after any type of body work to help eliminate the toxins that are released from the session.
