I was introduced to Fire Cider a couple of years ago, I tasted it and I was hooked, I loved the taste. I just needed to see the benefits.
Fire Cider is taking raw apple cider vinegar, which already has many health benefits, and making it even better. In the past, when I felt a bit under the weather or when one of my kids got sick, I would start doing things to boost my immune system, like miso soup with lots of garlic or taking raw apple cider vinegar, until I met Fire Cider.
Fire Cider is raw apple cider on steroids and now is the time to make it, in preparation for cold and flu season. Basically, you take raw apple cider vinegar and mix in chopped roots and vegetables with immune boosting qualities, put them in a glass jar, store for 4 weeks and then strain the FIre Cider through a cheesecloth and store in the fridge. Click here for the recipe that I use and love.
I now store Fire Cider in my fridge and take it when I think I may be coming down with something or when someone in my household is sick. I have definitely noticed it’s effects and believe it has helps me fight off some colds!
Try it and let me know that you thing.
Many Olympians are covered in large red circles. That is from cupping, an adjunct to acupuncture. If you want to learn about it or experience cupping contact me for a session.

Many people are hesitant to try acupuncture or wont at all because it involves needles. I get that. But these needles are so thin and don’t really hurt. Once in a while there will be some sharpness but for most, it is just a pinch.
When I have new patients, the reaction after the first needle insertion is that they don’t believe I put a needle in yet or they will say, “is that it?” After the treatment is complete people are amazed at how little they felt and how RELAXING it felt to lay there with the needles.
I call it “Acuhigh”, it is hard to describe, but a very deep relaxation is experienced and patients look forward to having acupuncture.
Most patients fall asleep during treatment. In fact, today, I treated a 17 year old male and I could not wake him up after the treatment. Most people wake up when I lightly knock on the door and enter to get them up, but this time I just could not wake this patient up.
This is the email I woke up to this morning:
“I got up this morning and forgot I even had plantar fasciitis! See you tomorrow at 11”
How much more gratifying can my work be? Emails like this thrill me, providing a service that has this kind of effect is why I am an acupuncturist.
I have been an acupuncturist for 16 years and this response still amazes me. Why? I have treated so many people with plantar fasciitis and 80% of the cases have 80% improvement within the first 3 treatments. There is the 20% that are more difficult cases and respond slower to acupuncture. That 20% leaves me second guessing and amazed.
Today, I administered another Acupuncture Happy Hour in a corporate setting. These events are so much fun. Attendees receive an ear acupuncture treatment for relaxation and stress reduction in a group setting. Who can’t use some relaxation?
I love these events because the majority of the people seen have not had acupuncture before and everyone is so curious. The response is always very positive, everyone loves the experience and when they go back to their desks talking about it, more people want to experience it. Acupuncture spreads like wild fire and more people are exposed which makes me happy to share about acupuncture.
You can bring this event to your workplace or a group. Acupuncture Happy Hour can be set up in many ways. Typically, it is in a room large enough to hold many people, the lights are dimmed with nice music is softly playing. You enter the room, sign in, ask as many questions as you need, then relax in a chair and receive ear acupuncture for stress reduction. Close your eyes and let the treatment take over. After about 20 minutes your treatment will be complete and you can ask more questions if anything comes to mind.
If this is your first experience with acupuncture, you will be amazed how little you feel when the pins are inserted and how much you relax. The state of relaxation that acupuncture evokes is deep, I call it acuhigh. The only problem with these events, you wont want to go back to work after you relax. Just kidding, you will return to work feeling refreshed, relaxed and ready.
If you would like your workplace to offer an Acupuncture Happy Hour, you may put me in touch with the person that arranges wellness programs or lunch and learns.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show your loved ones how much you care. Below are some ideas to make this year’s holiday a memorable one.
Start the day off right
Make a homemade breakfast for your loved one or close family and friends in your life. Everyone can appreciate waking up to something homemade. Try doing breakfast in bed for your significant other or hosting a friends and family brunch at your house.
Show your appreciation
Don’t forget to tell your loved one how much you appreciate them. Show them how much they mean to you by making a creative list of all the reasons you are happy they are in your life.
Plan the day
Make a plan for the day! Decide to do an activity that you both enjoy whether it is getting outside, going to a museum or going out to the movies. Splurge a little for the day.
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Take this day to put everyday stressors on the backburner. Life gets busy, and a lot of times we take it out on the people we care about the most. Try to forget about trivial problems and enjoy your loved one’s company! The small things you may fight about don’t matter, especially today.
Take the pressure off
Instead of doing Valentine’s Day gifts this year, make a decision with your significant other to put the money toward something else for the both of you. Instead of feeling the pressure to go buy a gift, plan a weekend getaway together or even a day trip to enjoy each other’s company.
Take care of yourself
Your loved ones care deeply about you, so make sure you are taking care of yourself as well. Keep your health in check and remember that it is ok to be selfish sometimes. The people in your life want to see you happy as much as you want to make them happy.
Every day can be Valentine’s Day
Remember that any day is the perfect opportunity to show how much you care and love the people in your life. Strive to make your loved ones smile today and every other day as well. The small gestures can go a long way.
It’s the year of the monkey!
Lunar New Year is today and marks the beginning of the Year of the Monkey. Also called Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, the holiday is steeped in layers of myths and traditions. It is celebrated in many countries throughout Asia, including Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, and in other parts of the world where people with Asian heritage have settled. It is a time for families to come together to eat good food and participate in cultural traditions.
